SOUTHAMPTON WANT TO SIGN GRAY FROM LEICESTER CITY

According to various reports, Southampton Football Club want to complete the signing of Leicester City outcast Demarai Gray as they look to offer him a platform to rediscover his form and regain his confidence so he can play some football.

Gray has been restricted to just two appearances in all competitions under manager Brenda Rodgers so far this season and has been deemed surplus to requirements St the club by the former Celtic manager. The Premier League winner with the Foxes will see his contract run out at the end of the season and as things stand, the club will not be offering him a new deal.

Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhutl is an admirer of Gray and would love to bring him to the Saint Marys so he can add more squad depth to the Saints squad. The 24-year-old winger is blessed with pace and skillsets but with just 13 goals in 169 appearances, he has fallen short judging by his standards and talent.

According to The Sun, Southampton are not the only club interested in his signature, as French sides AS Monaco and Marseille join Portuguese outfit Benfica in the race for his signing. Gray is free to negotiate with and sign a pre-agreement with any club if his choice currently given that his current contract is set to expire in just six months. However, he is not free to sign such agreement with any of Leicester City’s direct rivals.

Foxes boss Rodgers admitted last month that Gray needs to join a new club and have a fresh start after admitting that he won’t be offering the winger any more chances to redeem himself at the club. Rodgers said Gray has been very professional with how the situation has turned out but will have to move on to revive his career.
